Gwen Phillips
Gwen Phillips, 88, a resident of Union City, died May 16, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2024, at White-Ranson Funeral Home. The Rev. James Gunter officiated. Burial followed in Beech Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kevin Whipple, Teddy Willcutt, David Ursery, Jim Boyd, Tim Williams, Jonathan Williams and Bill Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Elders of Beech C.P. Church, and Mike True.
The family received friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Phillips was born on May 31, 1935 in Union City to the late William Dolly and Ella (Hampton) Smith. She worked as an Office Manager for Coca-Cola. On Aug. 2, 1953, she married Raymond Neal Phillips. He passed away Aug. 28, 2010. She was a member of Beech C.P. Church.
The family requests memorials be sent to Beech C.P. Church or the American Kidney Foundation.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna Sutton and husband, Roland, and Sharon Bruce, all of Union City, and Pam Harris and husband, Dwayne, of Murfreesboro; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cynthia Bonner and husband, Max, of Haleyville, Ala., and Evelyn Whipple of the Crystal Community; brother, Bill Smith of the Shawtown Community; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her grandson-in-law, John Anthony Wherry.
