ARTIST HONORED — Obion County Central High School junior Jose Ramirez (right), whose artwork was chosen last month as the new county seal, was officially honored Monday morning by the Obion County Commission. He received a framed certificate and a check, which were presented by OC Clerk Crystal Crain (left), who initiated the high school design contest to update the county’s 44-year-old seal, and OC Mayor Steve Carr. The county commission unanimously chose Ramirez’s design from a field of six choices presented at its February meeting. It was also the top vote-getter in a public opinion poll prior to the selection. Ramirez was joined Monday by (not pictured) his art teacher, Miranda Brown, and his principal, Corry Essary.
