Carolyn Jones
Ramona Carolyn Laster Jones, age 95, of Rives passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at The Arbors in Union City.
Funeral service were at White-Ranson Funeral Home Friday, March 1, 2024, at 3 p.m., with Bro. Lee Moses officiating. Burial followed in Berea Cemetery. Visitation began Friday at 11:30 a.m. and ran until the time of service at the funeral home.
Johnny Hundley, Steve Wigdor, Tim Wigdor, Kent Mathis, Christopher Mabry and Wade Webb served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Jones was born in Obion County on Jan. 17, 1929, to the late Virgil Henry Laster and the late Docia Pauline Forrester Laster. She married Mr. Wade Jerome Jones on Dec. 10, 1947. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2007. She was a member of Berea Church of Christ and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Jones was the first female bus driver in Obion County history and drove for 26 years. She was very involved in the Senior Citizens Center and was a former member of the Central Community Club. She loved horses and was an expert seamstress and quilter. Mrs. Jones used this expertise to provide for those who were less fortunate.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula Webb of Rives; two grandchildren, Robert Webb and his wife, Hilary, of Rives and Dana Mabry and her husband, Doug, of Madison; six great-grandchildren, Christopher Mabry of Nashville, Callie Mabry of Madison, Mason Mabry of Cookeville, Madison Mabry of Madison and Lyla and Wade Webb of Rives; and one great-great-grandchild, Je’Kai Harris of Madison.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ronnie Webb; and five siblings, Elmer, Loyce and Preston Laster, LaNelle Laster Hundley and Doris Laster Wigdor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope, 902 Perkins St., Union City, TN 38261.
