Ralph Wheatley and Caroline Wheatley

Ralph Arnold Wheatley Sr., 85, of Troy passed away 9:12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at his home. His wife Caroline (Spicer) Wheatley, 84, of Troy passed away 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at her home.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Ron Gray officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Visitation was held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
Pallbearers were Robert Graham, Layton Scarbrough, Tanner Cary, Linden Scarbrough, Braden Griffin and Chandler Fussell.
Ralph was born May 29, 1938, in La Forge, Mo., son of the late William Price and Donnie Lou (Steward) Wheatley. He and Caroline married April 1, 1960. Ralph had been employed as a salesman for NAPA Auto Parts and retired as an insurance agent with American General Life Insurance Company. He served as a captain in the Tennessee National Guard, was a member of the Western Sun Masonic Lodge in Troy and the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Shriner. Ralph was a former alderman for the Town of Troy and was of the Church of Christ faith.
Caroline was born Dec. 29, 1939, in Samburg, daughter of the late Gardner and Pauline (Sampson) Spicer. She had been employed as a custodian at Hillcrest Elementary in Troy and was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith.
Ralph and Caroline are survived by their two daughters, Kathy Scarbrough and husband, Darryl, of Union City and Robin Cary and husband, Trent, of Troy; seven grandchildren, Robert Graham, Crystal Graham, Layton Scarbrough and wife, Casey, Tanner Cary and wife, Brooke, Linden Scarbrough and wife, Christina, Brea Humphries and Tatum Fussell and husband, Chandler; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Ralph is also survived by his sister, Sue Roberson of Troy.
Caroline is also survived by two sisters, Ellen Stewart of Union City and Wanda Quillen and husband, Charlie, of Troy; and one brother, Greg Spicer of Union City.
They were preceded in death by two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Wheatley and Tina Graham; and one son and daughter-in-law, Arnold and Doris Wheatley.
Caroline was also preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Pierce; and two brothers, Harold Spicer and Russ Spicer.
