James Counsell
James Earl Counsell, age 84, passed from this life on Jan. 6, 2024, in Jefferson City.
He was born on Nov. 25, 1939, in rural Obion County to the late Clarence Blakemore and Sarah Kathryn (Harpole) Counsell.
James spent his early years in Obion County and, following graduation from high school, enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served as a lineman, spending later years of his life working as an electrical contractor. James professed his love for Christ as a young man and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by three brothers.
He is survived by his children, James Blakemore (Penny) Counsell and Max Ann (Scott) Ferguson; grandchildren, Blake (Whitney) Counsell, Macy (Cody) Hairston, Chase (Alyssa) Counsell and Stone Counsell; along with several great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville.
Arrangements are by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
