Richard Smith
Richard Jerry Smith, age 76, of Union City passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at The Waters of Union City.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, with Bro. Roger Shock officiating at White-Ranson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. There will be a private graveside held at a later date.
Mr. Smith was born in Chattanooga on June 24, 1947, to the late L. Herschel Smith Sr. and the late Anna Ruth Smith. He married Mrs. Betty Mountjoy Smith on April 8, 1984. She survives.
Mr. Smith had two passions in life, family and golf. He moved to Union City in 1997 in order for his wife to be close to aging family. He started his business, Richard J. Smith & Associates. Because his clients were international, he was able to indulge his second passion, golf. He was a member of Poplar Meadows Country Club and a member of First Methodist Church in Union City.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Lori Ann Millard of Union City; two grandchildren, Virginia Ann Millard of Union City and Christopher Berkley Millard and his wife, Kaitlyn, of North Carolina; his sister, Gloria Ann Smith Cox and her husband, John, of Chattanooga; his sister-in-law, Debbie Smith of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his brother, L. Herschel Smith Jr.
