GOING BANANAS

GOING BANANAS — Sherry Cook-Pyatt of South Fulton, grand marshal of the Banana Festival’s grand parade, threw candy to parade-goers late Saturday afternoon as the procession rolled along Lake Street in downtown Fulton. Hundreds of people lined the streets as the parade started on Broadway Street in South Fulton and crossed the state line between SF’s Unity Park and Fulton’s Pontotoc Park to move along Commercial Avenue to Lake Street. It was one of the final events of this year’s festival, which ended its nine-day run late Saturday. Ms. Cook-Pyatt was chairman of the festival committee in 2022 and 2023, as well as the Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce’s 2022 Citizen of the Year.
