FIGHTING CANCER DAILY — Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope and its teams are always raising money to help local cancer patients with their expenses. This Saturday, those teams will culminate their year of fundraisers with an event that’s sure to be a “Blast from the Past.” Co-chairman Lorraine Jones, a founder of the Walk of Hope, said after taking a year off from a final event, the groups wanted to move to a smaller venue. That venue ended up being Kiwanis Park in downtown Union City. The block party will get under way at 2 p.m. and go through 9 that evening. There will be music, games and lots of food. Mrs. Jones encourages everyone bring their bag chairs and picnic blankets and come out for one final push to increase the organization’s funds before the end of its fiscal year on Sept. 30. Among the team leaders who recently checked out their new venue space are (front, from left) Lynn Brewer, Tammy Baucom, Dorothy McMullen, Samantha Wallace, David Fitzgerald, Mrs. Jones, Jane Jackson, Sherry Henry, Misty Wright, Tracy Clark, Lexi Johnson, (back) Debbie Dutton, Kara Ward, Sheila Ward, Luz Morales, Bethany Patterson, Joanne Duckworth and co-chairman Kim Bruer.
