GIRL POWER — Special Olympics competitor Wendy Brinkley laughed as she and fellow participants Phyllis Sanford (background left) and Kristy Riley awaited their turns in the javelin throw Saturday morning during the Obion County Special Olympics spring games, held at War Memorial Stadium on the Union City High School campus. The Union City Kiwanis Club-sponsored games for adults with development disabilities drew about 30 special needs participants who, despite cool windy conditions, competed in softball throw, standing long jump, javelin throw and race walks. Afterward, McDonald’s provided lunch.
