SIDEWINDER
SIDEWINDER — Union City firefighter William Jackson twisted around to right himself on a ladder after coming out of a window head first Thursday during emergency egress bailout training hosted by the Union City Fire Department. The training was done with the aid of a portable tower and personnel from the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy (TFACA), giving the department tower training credit for its ISO rating, which reflects preparedness. With bad weather in the forecast, all three UCFD shifts trained at an indoor facility courtesy of Nutrien. At week’s end, firefighters from several departments around Obion County also did the training. The three-story portable tower has been in use about five years and this was its first use locally.
