Bobby Owens

Bobby Franklin Owens, age 84, of Kenton passed away from this life on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at home.
Visitation was Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at New Salem Baptist Church from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services for Mr. Owens were conducted on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of New Salem Baptist Church, with Bro. Daryl Morgan officiating. Interment followed in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Karnes & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Bobby was born in Obion County on Dec. 8, 1938, to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Green) Owens. Bobby served in our United States Army for two years. He was a retired farmer, truck driver and a bus driver for Obion County Schools. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Mason Hall. Bobby always loved to be outdoors. If he wasn’t mowing or watering his lawn, he was working on something in his shop. Even though he was confined to his wheelchair, he still managed to get on his lawnmower most pretty days.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean (Dowland) Owens; son, Kevin Owens; sister, Peggy Harrell; brother, Terry Joe Owens; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Edith Owens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Salem Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
