Danny Childress

Danny Ray Childress, age 75, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, peacefully at his home. He was born in Greenfield on May 4, 1947. Sergeant Childress was proud of the four years he spent serving his country in the Marine Corps in Vietnam before being honorably discharged. Danny worked hard for his family and was a great father and grandpa. He finally retired at the age of 62 to enjoy cheering on his favorite football teams, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Volunteers. He enjoyed family and home, and sharing time with friends. But especially enjoyed golf! And is expected to be on the golf course even now! Danny is survived by his brothers, Stanley (Chris), Robert (Brenda) and David (Doris) Childress; his sisters, Lilli Griffin (Bruce) and Joan Lassiter; as well as his children, Lori Childress Smith (Thimothy) and Brian C. Childress (Rachael); grandsons, Austin Smith (Bethany) and Logan Childress; and granddaughters, Paige Childress and Amber Smith. He will be missed by all that knew him.
