HOME BURNS — Smoke rolled from a home on Payne Road, located off Old Pierce Road near South Fulton, during a rural residential fire that broke out before dawn Friday morning. The South Fulton Fire Department initially responded, with assistance coming from the Fulton, Union City, Rives, Martin and Water Valley, Ky., fire departments. It was a busy weekend of fires in the Twin Cities, with a Sunday afternoon blaze leveling a brick building at the corner of Main and Washington streets in downtown Fulton and then Fulton firefighters responding Sunday night to a tractor-trailer rig fire on the Purchase Parkway.
