Richard Ferguson

Richard Wayne Ferguson, 70, of Lakeland, formerly of Union City, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2022.
A memorial will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at White-Ranson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the hour of services Saturday. Bobby Jacobs will officiate.
Ricky was born June 25, 1952, in Union City, to the late Richard “Tarp” and Polly Yoes Ferguson. He married the former Sybille Sharp on March 13, 2007. She survives.
Ricky was a graduate of Union City High School, class of 1970. He earned engineering degrees from UT Knoxville and University of Arkansas and was a retired quality control engineer, having worked for several large, multinational companies throughout his career.
His job responsibilities required him to travel abroad, most often to Mexico and China. He was proud to have experienced first-hand that which most people only get to see in pictures. He was a rabid UT Vols fan and pitied those who weren’t.
An avid outdoorsman, Ricky developed a love for duck hunting at an early age while hunting Crockett Bottoms with family. He also enjoyed turkey hunting the hills of Middle Tennessee and bass fishing on Reelfoot Lake. He once claimed to have known every hotspot within sight of Miller’s boat dock. The pictures we’ve found suggest that perhaps he was right.
He is also survived by three daughters, Holly (Todd) Worley of Spring Hill, Casey (Justin) Lawrence of Kodiak, Alaska, and Rebecca (Cory) Snead of Troy; six grandchildren, Kara and Braden Worley, Sophia and Paxton Lawrence and Zealand and Bodhi Snead; and four sisters, Brenda (Glenn) Fuller of Paris, Kay (Robert) Burns of Fulton, Donna (Marshall) Dudley of Loudon and Deborah (Bobby) Jacobs of Gates.
Following the service, a light meal will be provided at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, located at 1422 Pleasant Valley Ave. in Union City. All friends and family are invited to attend.
Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.white-ranson.com.
