Joy Johnson
Jennifer Joy Johnson, 48, of Union City left her earthly home on Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, after a seven-month battle with cancer.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Carr officiating. Burial was in Terrace Hill Cemetery near Troy.
Pallbearers were Shane Cole, Rance Hooper, Jeremy Morris, Karl Johnson, Billy Blakley, Jackie Curlin, Jack Krietman and Tim Bishop.
Honorary pallbearers were Chris Cummings, Preston Aldridge, Josh Hutchens and Jeffrey Marshall.
She was born Oct. 16, 1973, in Union City, to Robert N. “Bobby” Johnson of Reelfoot Lake and Wanda Lee Williams of Southaven, Miss.
Joy was known to all she met as a friend. Her bright smile, wit, willingness and desire to help everyone were traits that set her apart from the crowd. Her zest for life and take charge attitude was with her till her last breath.
She graduated from Obion County Central High School in 1991 and TCAT in Newbern. Joy was a graduate of Obion County Leadership Class of 1998-99. Joy had been a credentialing specialist for many years for medical groups from Memphis and Nashville. She would be the first to tell you that working with David Hamilton and the Obion County Industrial Development Corporation alongside Johnna Reeder Kleymeyer with Obion County Chamber of Commerce were her most rewarding “work days.”
Joy is survived by her parents; her loving stepmother, Gail Johnson of Reelfoot Lake; her four first boyfriends (brothers), Jock Johnson (Kim) and Jai Johnson, all of Union City, Bill Richards (Ginger) of Byhalia, Miss., and Tim Williams of Hernando, Miss.; the love of her life, her fiancé, Brian Aldridge of Union City; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John E. and Elisabeth Johnson; and her maternal grandparents, Bill Williams and Dorothy Grider.
Fly high our beautiful butterfly … Count your Rainbows, not your Thunderstorms
