Joan Caudle

Joan Connell Caudle, age 86, of Foley, Alabama, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sharon. Joan was born on April 8, 1936, the daughter of the late Clois and Norene Connell of Sharon. She spent her childhood in Sharon and spoke fondly about growing up in a small town. After high school, she worked in the banking industry and moved to Chicago where she met and married Milton Devon Caudle of Greenfield. She became a loving mother to her children, Laurie and David, supporting her family in every activity they undertook. Retirement brought Joan and her husband to the Gulf Coast of Alabama to be close to Laurie. Joan remained close to David and grandson, Devon, through annual trips to Asia where they were living. She enjoyed many new experiences in all of the countries she was able to visit. In 2019, David and Devon returned to the states to live in Foley, Alabama. Together, the family made the most of their time with family gatherings, games, and golf. Joan loved to watch her grandson on the Foley high school golf team. She was the cornerstone of the family and she will be deeply missed.  Joan is survived by her daughter and husband, Laurie and Sam Strite of Foley, Alabama; her son and grandson, David and Devon Caudle of Foley, Alabama; and her brother, Charles Robert Connell of Sharon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Devon Caudle of Foley, AL (raised in Greenfield); brother, Jerry Wayne Connell of Sharon; and her parents, Clois and Norene Connell of Sharon.
