Melvin Williams
Melvin Williams, 78, a resident of Union City, died June 23, 2022, at his residence.
Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. today at White-Ranson Fun-eral Home. Rev. Steve Carr was to officiate. Bur-ial was to follow in Ant-ioch Cemetery in the Crystal Community.
Pallbearers were Ricky Conner, Terry Conner, Ronnie Conner, Jeff Huff, Kevin Whipple and Mike True. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Bailey, Bobby Hutchison, Dale Treece and Jimmy Huff.
The family received friends from 9 a.m. until the hour of services today at the funeral home.
Mr. Williams was born on Dec. 17, 1943, in Union City. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Garrett and Lula Williams. On Nov. 27, 1964, he married Marie Duncan. She passed away July 3, 2019. Mr. Melvin was a 1961 graduate of Dixie High School, a member of Reelfoot Baptist Church, lifetime farmer, a employee of U.S.D.A. Crop Insurance Division and was an avid hunter of all game.
Mr. Williams is survived by a daughter, Rita (Barry) McDaniel of Union City; a son, Terry Williams of Evansville, Ind.; three grandsons, T.C. Williams of Lake Conroe, Texas, Alex (Jodi) McDaniel of Paragould, Ark., and Garrett (Anna Lyn) McDaniel of Union City; two great-granddaughters, Claire Katherine McDaniel of Union City and Laney Elizabeth McDaniel of Paragould; a half-brother, John Williams of Holly, Mich.; and a special family friend, Maddy Knight.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Donna Fay Williams.
