TRIAL BEGINS
TRIAL BEGINS — Tony Markee Mosley (far right, wearing face shield) of Union City asks his legal counsel, District Public Defender Joe Atnip, a question during his trial Monday in Obion County Circuit Court. Mosley, 34, is accused of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of 20-year-old DeCora Alexander of South Fulton, a University of Tennessee at Martin freshman who was found stabbed May 11, 2019, at a home east of Union City on Joe Fry Lane. Meanwhile, (from left, foreground) District Attorney General Tommy Thomas and DA’s office investigator Drew Vernon conferred and (background) Sheriff Karl Jackson and sheriff’s investigator Capt. Scott Watkins waited for the proceedings to resume. The proceedings began with jury selection and, once the panel was seated, Circuit Judge Jeff Parham gave some preliminary instructions shortly after 11 a.m., followed by opening statements from Thomas and Atnip and the start of testimony.
