OC CELEBRATION
OC CELEBRATION — Obion County Schools had a celebration Friday morning to mark the system’s being recognized as a Best for All District for significantly investing federal COVID-19 stimulus funding to drive student achievement and improve academic outcomes. It was one of just 68 out of 147 districts statewide to earn the honor. The Tennessee Department of Education celebrated the districts for #BestforAllDay through a statewide livestream event, which included participation from county educators, elected officials and local stakeholders, who anxiously awaited the big announcement (top photo) and then cheered amid a shower of confetti as a banner was unfurled (bottom photo). Each Best for All District is being awarded grant funds from the state education department’s Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds, with Obion County Schools to receive $200,000.
