Mary Rhodes

Mary Christine Yeargin Rhodes, age 80, passed away peacefully at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, with her daughter, Tina, and granddaughter, Kristen, by her side. A celebration of life for family and friends will be announced in the days to come. Her wishes were for her remains to be given to science and cremated afterwards. She was born in Greenfield on Oct. 27, 1941, the daughter of the late Harry and Odell Wren Yeargin. She had a PhD in Clinical Psychology, in which she helped others for several years. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren as well as her great-grandchildren. She loved playing the piano every chance she got. She loved her beloved dog Caesar. She always said that chocolate and ice cream were the cure for everything. Her last words were, “I want some ice cream.” She will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves her daughters, Tina (Harris) and Gerald Thorne Jr. of Mosheim, Lisa (Harris) Hectorne of Greenfield, and Michelle (Rhodes) and Dennis Hedrick of Suffolk, Virginia; grandchildren, Kristen (Hectorne) and Jason Weaver of Bells, Sam McDaniel Jr. and Hunter Thorne. both of Mosheim and Jessica (Coulter) and Jason Smith of Atoka,; and great-grandchildren, Brayden and Peyton Weaver, both of Bells and Devin and Gavin Smith, both of Atoka. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Yeargin and Bobby Yeargin.
