Ken Broadway

Kenneth Howard Broadway was born Sept. 13, 1950, in Troy, Ala., and entered into glory on Dec. 17, 2021, at his home in Yukon, Okla.
Ken graduated high school in Martin in 1968, and received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1972. Ken and Nina met in college and were married on Oct. 28, 1972, and would have been married 50 years this next year. Not long after starting their family, they moved to Memphis. In 1986, Ken and the family moved to Yukon, where Ken continued his employment with Firestone at Dayton Tire. Ken retired from Dayton after 28 years in 2005.
Ken was an avid college football fan, especially of his beloved Tennessee Volunteers. He also was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, helping them win multiple world championships in his lifetime. He coached several youth baseball teams for his kids and grandkids. Notable teams he coached were the Trinity Tornados, the Mudcats and the Redbirds.
Ken was active throughout his life in church. He was a member of the vocal group, New Generation, in college and sang at multiple churches and community events. He sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School, and served as a deacon at Eudora Baptist Church in Memphis and at Trinity Baptist Church, Yukon.
The most important day of Ken’s life was in 1963 when he repented of his sins and believed in Christ for his salvation. Ken is now at the throne of God singing praises with those who have gone before him. His greatest hope is that his entire family and all his friends would know the love of God he now knows in full.
He is survived by his bride, Nina Broadway; daughter, Shannon Anderson and her husband, Toby; his grandchildren, Taylor, Colton, Austin and Brilyn Broadway and Tatum and Cross Anderson; his great-grandchildren, Jackson Tritten and Raelyn Broadway; his brother, Gary Broadway and wife, Bonnie, of Rolla, Mo.; his sister, Carol Bing of Martin; his aunt, Loretta Ekis of Overland Park, Kan.; his aunt, Faye, and husband, Bill Hand, of Huntsville, Ala.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Marie Broadway; son, Brian Broadway; and grandson, Kendall Anderson.
Services will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, Yukon. The service will also be live-streamed at live.trinitychurchok.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Together We Center, Trinity Baptist Church, Yukon.
