Lewis Rust Byassee, age 92, of Union City passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, in Martin.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at White-Ranson Funeral Home. Bro. Terry English will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steve and Andy Kilgas, John Robertson, Michael and Randy Cultra and Kit Crawford.
Visitation will be held noon Saturday until the time of services.
Mr. Lewis was born Dec. 4, 1928, to the late Sam and Sallie Pennebaker Byassee. He married Mrs. Shirley Jo Ann Byassee on June 5, 1954. She preceded him in death on Sept. 2, 2021. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Lewis worked for Texas Gas Transmission Corporation as a maintenance supervisor and attended Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, where he served the church in many capacities. Upon retirement, he built houses and furniture for many years.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his daughter, Susan Kilgas and her husband, Steve, of Martin; his son, Allen Byassee and his partner, Tami Zeip, of Memphis; two grandchildren, Andy Kilgas of Martin and Megan Crawford and her husband, Kit, of Washington, D.C.; his sister, Margaret Robertson of Paducah, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin Byassee; and one sister, Mildred Shelton.
