Sherry Wheelis

Sherry Elaine (Hill) Wheelis, 71, of Union City died Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. today. The family received friends from 9 a.m. until the time of services today at White-Ran-son Funeral Home.
Dr. Matthew Nance officiated. Burial followed in Obion County Memorial Gardens. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
She was born July 17, 1950, daughter of the late James Hill Sr. and Mildred Hight Hill. She married Rucker Wheelis Nov. 4, 1977. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2019.
She and her husband opened the old First Street Deli in 1986. After that, they owned and operated The Gift Box on the corner of First and Church streets. in Union City. She was also an administrative assistant for the department of public works for many years before enjoying retirement.
She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Union City.
She is survived by two sons, Chuck (Alicia) Wheelis of Troy and Greg (Dara) Whaley of Benton, Ill.; her daughter-in-law, Regina Whaley of Union City; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Danny Whaley; stepmother, Marilyn Hill; one sister, Brenda Whaley; and her brother, Jim Hill Jr.
The family has requested that memorials be sent to First Baptist Church in Union City.
