Golden Denton Mathis, 100, of Troy died Oct. 11, 2021, at The Waters of Union City.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home. David Roberson will be officiating.
Burial will follow in Terrace Hill Cemetery near Troy.
Pallbearers will be David Roberson, Randy Roberson, Terry Roberson, Dave Roberson, Josh Roberson, Randy Shane Roberson and Anthony Roberson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Rumley, David Clift, Mike Sanders, Roland Davis, Bob Cooley, Bobby Dugger, Henry Inmon and Royce Morgan.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Mathis was born on July 23, 1921, in Boaz, Ky. to the late Robert Denton and Levie Rena (Smithson) Mathis.
He was a commercial guide on Reelfoot Lake for 50 years, and also an insurance salesman for 22 years. On Dec. 23, 2004, married Jeannette Butler. She survives.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church, a longtime member of the N.R.A. and a member of the Reelfoot Callmakers Association for 20 years.
The family requests memorials be sent to any charity of the donor’s choice.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Golden was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel (Applewhite) Mathis; second wife, Hazel (Scott) Mathis; brothers, Gaither Mathis and William Lewis Mathis; sisters, Allie Mae Mathis, Mae Mathis Gantlett and Stella Mathis Roberson.
