CORNFEST BEGINS — Obion County CornFest has begun for 2021. Pageants were held over the weekend and the Coke medallion hunt will get under way Tuesday when the first clue is printed in The Messenger and posted on Coke’s and CornFest’s Facebook pages. T-shirts, displayed by board members Linda Simrell (left) and Penny Chesteen are on sale at the Obion County Public Library for $10 each. Executive director Glenda Chrisp (not pictured), who has announced her retirement after this year’s festivities, has been named Pride of Obion County. A luncheon has been set in her honor Oct. 13 at Discovery Park of America. Tickets are $15 each and must be purchased no later than Tuesday at the library. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Most CornFest events will be held Oct. 13-16. For a complete schedule of events, refer to the Obion County CornFest booklet.
