Louise Gainey

Mrs. Louise Downs Gainey, age 90, died Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Monday at East Side Cemetery in Martin with Rev. Cody Barner officiating with Murphy Funeral Home of Martin in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Gainey was a homemaker and a member of Leawood Baptist Church in Memphis. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Ted) Blackwell of Martin; two grandchildren, Deaton (Breanne) Blackwell of Chattanooga and Maggie Blackwell of Martin; one great-granddaughter, Bradley Blackwell; and one sister-in-law, Nora Gainey of Yazoo City, Mississippi. Mrs. Gainey was preceded in death by her husband, H.C. Gainey; her parents, David Downs and Maggie Self Downs; two brothers, Charles Downs and Jim Downs; and one sister, Nellie Wier.
