Lola May Beasley

Lola May “Skeet” (Russell) Beasley, 88, died Jan. 15, 2021, in Birmingham, Ala.
She was born May 1, 1932, in Weakley County, daughter of the late Frederick and Rose Lee Russell.
She graduated from Central High School and University of Tennessee School of Nursing, both in Memphis.
Lola had a long career in nursing and retired from Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham.
Throughout her life, Lola was an avid tennis player. She was also very artistic and enjoyed taking a variety of art classes, including everything from oil and watercolor painting to batiking to ceramics.
She also served in the United States Air Force Reserve and was thrilled to attend the 1970 World’s Fair while on active duty in Osaka Japan.
In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her husband, James Gordon Beasley; brothers, Frederick M. and Joseph; and sisters, Elizabeth Rose “Betty” and Mary Lou “Dinah.”
She is survived by her daughter, Cecilee Beasley; sisters and the husband of one, Patsy Ann Mitchell and Nancy and Mark Eberly; brother and his wife, David and Arlene Russell; and sister-in-law, Nellie Russell.
Lola and her husband “Jim” were members of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Ala.
A memorial service will be held at Stanley’s Chapel in Obion County at a later date.
