Sylvia June Newton

Mrs. Sylvia June Parham Newton, age 87, died Friday, Nov. 20, 202, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Central Baptist Church in Martin, with Rev. Kylan Mann officiating. Burial followed at Cate Cemetery in Martin with Murphy Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Newton was a graduate of Martin High School class of 1951, a retired secretary at UT Martin and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Dawn Newton and Deborah (Donnie) Walker, both of Martin; her sons, Keith (Brittany) Newton of Dresden, Kelly (Lisa) Newton, Martin and Joel (Teresa) Chirban of Rolla, Missouri; her step daughter, Kim (Shaun) Pyle of Du Quoin, Illinois; her step son, Jeff (Joyce) Newton of Camano Island, Washington; 15 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald D. Newton; a son, Mark Chirban; and her parents, Thelbert Wayne and Bessie Lee Cate Parham.
