Larry Lassiter, 81, of Union City died Friday, Nov. 20, 2020, at his home.
Private graveside services were held at East View Cemetery.
Larry was born on Jan. 24, 1939, in Bolivar, son of the late William Gaines Lassiter and Thelma Irene (Duncan) Lassister, of Middleton. He married the former Margo Camille Walker on June 5, 1965, and they have two sons, Sean and Jeffrey.
Larry was in the U.S. Air Force for over 26 years, rising from the rank of Airman Basic to Lt. Colonel. He was stationed at 16 different locations during this time, including Korea, Japan and Washington, D.C.
After retirement from the Air Force, he worked in the heating and air conditioning business in Redbud, Ill., Lewisburg and the former Lennox Hearth Products Company in Union City.
He was a management engineer while serving in the military and an industrial engineer in civilian life. He earned an industrial management degree from the University of Memphis and a Master of Business Degree from the University of Oklahoma.
He was a member of the Hope Sunday School class at First Baptist Church, Union City for over 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Margo of Union City; two sons, Sean and his wife, Heather, and their two daughters, Jordan and Lauren of Navarre, Fla., Jeffrey and his wife, Virna, and their daughter, Emely of Jackson; and stepgrandson, Omar Minaya of Miami.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Lee Thomas; and an older brother, John Thomas (Sonny) Lassiter.
