Jane Roy Griffin

Mrs. Margaret “Jane” Roy Griffin, 89, of Troy was called to her heavenly home Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020.
She was born on Jan. 14, 1931, the only daughter of Jesse Samuel Roy and Lela Jane (Walker) Roy in Obion.
Although she had planned to attend college and become a teacher, Jane met the love of her life, Samuel E. Griffin, in 1946. After graduating from Obion High School in 1948, she and Sam married and had their first daughter a year later, Beverly Jane.
They eventually moved to Michigan where they lived for 32 years. There, they had a second daughter, Barbara Elizabeth (Beth). Jane was actively involved in school activities for both girls and was proud to work at the very first K-Mart store.
After retiring back to Troy, Jane was very active at Troy United Methodist Church. She really enjoyed the activity days and working in the kitchen.
She and Sam also enjoyed traveling, but her favorite activity was visiting family and friends. They especially enjoyed spending time with their granddaughter, Marlaina Beth (Marley) Liskey.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Beverly Griffin of Erin and Beth Liskey (Ronald) of Dubuque, Iowa; granddaughter, Marley Liskey of Madison, Wisc.; and niece, Karen (Roy) White of Garden City, Mich.
Preceding Jane in death was her husband of 72 years, Sam Griffin; her parents; and two brothers, Raymond Roy and James Roy.
A celebration of life service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday at Troy United Methodist Church. The family requests that everyone wear a face mask and please refrain from touching.
Instead of flowers, Jane would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in her name, or by making a memorial donation to Troy United Methodist Church.
Condolences may be sent to the family at the funeral home website: www.white-ranson.com.
