Fred Richards
Frederick Louis “Fred” Richards, 75, of the Dixie community went home to be with the Lord 5:44 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at his home.
Memorial graveside services were conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in Fremont Cemetery near Union City. Dr. Bobby Williams officiated.
There was no visitation held and friends were asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.
Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Fred was born Sept. 25, 1944, in Union City, son of the late Charles Adrian “Bill” Richards Jr. and the late Catheline (McQueen) Richards. He married Ann (Coleman) Richards Dec. 16, 1963. She survives. He had been employed by the Obion County Highway Department, Dale Bryant Installations and retired from Obion County Farmers Co Op in Union City as a truck driver after 28 years of service. He was an avid coon and bird hunter and trained dogs to hunt.
He was a member of Walnut Log Baptist Church.
He is also survived by one son, Ricky Richards (JJ) of the Walnut Log community; one grandson, Tyler Richards of the Crystal community; one granddaughter, Hanna Richards of Union City; one great-grandson, Jon Tyler Richards of Union City; two great-granddaughters, Bentlee Richards and Hadley Richards, both of Union City; one sister, Kathy Crittendon (Bobby) of Rives; a special niece, Valerie Griffin of the Dixie community; a special nephew, Jeremy Meachum of Paducah, Ky.; two special great-nieces, Carly Howell and Catie Howell, both of the Dixie community; one brother-in-law, Willie Coleman of the Fremont community; one sister-in-law, Cathy Gaskins of the Dixie community; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Angel Richards; two sisters, Freida Eubanks and Carol Turner; and one brother, Billy Richards.
