PEACEFUL PROTEST — Members of several area motorcycle clubs gathered Saturday in front of Abernathy’s on West Main Street in Union City holding signs with messages supporting Black Lives Matter or in response to a recent Facebook post denouncing the movement. The owner of the longtime local dealership has been at the center of a firestorm of controversy over a racially-charged post on his Facebook page several days ago. He has denied making the post and issued a statement to the community last week. The protesters Saturday included members of the Samarai Riders motorcycle club of Union City, as well as those from the Sin City, Dem Boyz and 901 Extreme clubs in Dyersburg and a Missouri-based chapter of Dem Boyz.
