Alex Christopher

Alex Lee Christopher, 41, of Athens, Ala., formerly of Union City, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, at his home after an extended illness.
He is survived by his parents, Wade and Reetta Christopher of Athens; a brother, Dr. Neal Christopher (Summer) of California; his precious daughters, Emma Grace and Whitlee Reece Christopher and their mother, Laura Cothren; his nephews, Anselm and Aidan Christopher; and his niece, Sibyl Christopher, all of California.
He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles and cousins that loved him like their own and friends, Tommy Wright and Mary Anna Martin Smith.
He was a a member of First Baptist Church of Athens.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Iretta Alexander and Al and Irma Christopher; and his cousin, Carla Moses.
He was a 1997 graduate of Athens High School, where he was a member of the state championship wrestling team. He attended Auburn University. He earned bachelor’s degrees in health promotion and physical education from Athens State University. He also held a certification in fitness training.
He loved his family and friends with all his heart. He and his cousins always enjoyed being together, playing ball, watching Auburn football or just hanging out.
He was born an Auburn fan and that only intensified as he grew older. He would always give you a big War Eagle!
The family will have a tribute to Alex’s life at 11 a.m. on Feb. 15 at First Baptist Church of Athens and would love for all Alex’s family and friends to attend.
Alex had such a love for children, he would be honored to have memorials sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
