FIGHTING FLU

FIGHTING FLU — The Obion County Health Department held a “FightFluTN” vaccination event Tuesday at the Obion County Public Library in Union City, where 91 people took advantage and received free flu shots. Cindy Thompson (seated) of Union City was among those who received their shot, which was given by registered nurse Jessica Ward of Martin. Ms. Thompson said she gets a flu shot every year. Seasonal influenza activity is spreading in Obion County and across Tennessee and is expected to continue for months. The flu vaccine is especially important for infants, young children, pregnant women, adults older than age 50 and those with chronic medical conditions. For more information about the flu and getting a flu vaccine, contact a health care provider, call the Obion County Health Department at 885-8722 or visit tn.gov/health/fightflu.
