Virginia Hayes
Mrs. Virginia Dare Hayes, 97, of Reelfoot Lake died Saturday morning, Sept. 21, 2019 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at White-Ran-son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be Rochelle McClain, Annette Gibson, Chelsea Bing, Becky Hoffman, Katie Rudd and Peggy Wright.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials be made to the Antioch Cemetery Association, 209 Elizabeth St., Hornbeak, TN 38232.
She was born April 23, 1922, in Union City, daughter of the late Fred Lee and Ida (Ladd) Gammons. She was married to the late Marvin Hayes. He died Feb. 25, 1982.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tiptonville, served as Sunday school and Vacation Bible School director for both Reelfoot Baptist Church and Samburg Baptist Church, was a Kentucky Colonel, assisted her late husband in various family businesses at Reelfoot Lake and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
She is survived by two daughters, Jan (Randy) Dyer of Reelfoot Lake and Jill (Tony) White of Tiptonville; one son, Mike (Kathy) Hayes of Reel-foot Lake; nine grandchildren, Russ Dyer of Medina, Ryan (Susan) Dyer of McKenzie, Jenny Lynn (Cody) Rodriquez of Tiptonville, Ron H. (Leah) Dyer of Hornbeak, Jonanne (Richard) Pike of Dyersburg, Michael Hayes of Hornbeak, Rachael (Cody) Richmond of Union City, Wil Marvin Hayes of Memphis and Drew Hayes of Louisville, Ky.; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one son, Marvin Hayes Jr.; two brothers; and four sisters.
