Alton Thomas

Alton Thomas, 88, of Union City died Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, at Baptist East Memorial Hospital-Memphis.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. today at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Dr. Bobby Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickman City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the hour of services today.
Pallbearers will be Seth Thomas, Chance Kirk, David Thomas, Blake Thomas, Jim Bondurant, Dylan Bondurant and Johnny Babb.
He was born March 21, 1931, in Hickman, Ky., son of the late Willie Thomas and Pearl (Watson) Thomas. He married Dolores (Phipps) Thomas on June 19, 1955, She survives.
He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict and served on the USS Black Navy destroyer.
He worked at the former Reelfoot Packing Company and the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dolores (Phipps) Thomas of Union City; one daughter, Felecia (Bennett) Kirk of Union City; three sons, Barry (Gina) Thomas of Union City, Mark (Anna) Thomas of Paducah, Ky., Brent (Donna) Thomas of Valdosta, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Lindsey Pollock of Fort Collins, Colo., Seth Thomas of Louisville, Ky., Abigail Thomas of Paducah, Jessica Chessor of Rives, Chance Kirk of Manchester, Darcey Kirk of Union City, Blake Thomas of Valdosta and Mackenzie Budzinsky of Valdosta; two great-grandchildren, Gracie Kirk of Manchester, Reed Neihoff of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
