Albert Sidney Bennett, 82, of Hornbeak died July 20, 2019, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at White & Mahon Funeral Home. The Rev. Perry Grills will officiate. Burial will follow in Rohobeth Cemetery near Newbern.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Bennett was born Sept. 6, 1936, in Hornbeak, to the late John E. and Myrtle (Langley) Bennett. He married Virginia Alexander Nov. 22, 1962. She passed away on Aug. 25, 2014.
He served in the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith.
He retired as a meat inspector for the USDA, after 30 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Pattye and Rob Hammond of Reelfoot Lake, Beverly Bennett of Nashville; a granddaughter, Allye Mallard of Mantoon, Ill.; three grandsons, Mitch Mallard of Chattanooga, Evan and Mason Hammond of Dyersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Tyler Mallard; two sisters, Marie Morton and Ruth King; four brothers, Byron, Jack, Paul, and Vernon Bennett.
