CHEER CAMP — Union City High School cheerleaders (at right, from left) Yolanda Sims, Talea Buford and Angel Edwards, all of Union City, taught local girls how to properly execute jumps during Union City Parks and Recreation’s cheer camp this morning. According to assistant cheer coach Halle Kennedy, girls in grades 1-6 are being taught two dances, high school cheers they can do at local ballgames, kicks, jump, motions, spirit and yelling. They are also making spirit posters. Girls still wishing to participate in the week-long event may join them in the multi-purpose room at Union City Elementary School from 9 a.m.-noon through Friday. The only other requirement is a form from parks and recreation to be brought the first day of participation.
