Herbert “Red” Young
Herbert “Red” Young, 87, of Dyersburg departed this life on Saturday, June 1, 2019, in Dyersburg Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Baptist Church. The Rev. John Williams will officiate.
Friends may call from noon until the hour of services Wednesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Steve Sherfield, Bobby Hayes, James DePriest, LaMont Foggie, Danny McDonald and Grover Shinault Jr. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.
Cryer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Booneville, Miss., to the late Primule and Lenora Pennie Young. He was a mechanic for the former Road Builders in Union City; a U.S. Army veteran, who served in the Korean War; and was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Obion.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Evelyn Williams Young of Obion; three daughters, Brenda Robertson of Dyersburg, Lil McCloud of Martin and Debbie Butts of Gary, Ind.; three sisters, Annie Wil Miller, Hattie Williams and Redie B. Miller, all of Booneville; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. A host of relatives and friends also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, one sister and four brothers.
