REMEMBERING THE FALLEN — American Legion Post No. 20, with financial assistance from organizations like Magnolia Place Assisted Living Center, purchases flags each year to be placed on the graves of veterans for Memorial Day. This will be the first Memorial Day that Union City native Lt. Richard Clive “Tito” Lannom, who was a bombardier/navigator aboard a Navy A-6A when he disappeared March 1, 1968, over North Vietnam, will be remembered since he was returned to Union City and buried at East View Cemetery in March of this year. Among the volunteers who have provided the flags or will be placing the flags on gravesites this year are (from left) David Johnson and Rana Buchanan, both of Magnolia Place, and Allen Nohsey of the American Legion.
