Mary Hodges

Mary Carney Hodges, 98, of Hickman, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hickman City Cemetery with Henry Callison officiating.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the the charity of the donor’s choice.
She was born to Isaac Hat-maker and Julia Longmire Hatmaker in Marlow. She and her brothers were sent to the Kentucky Children’s Home from Strait Creek, Ky., in 1923.
In 1925, she went to live with Barney B. and Della Nall Carney in Mayfield, Ky.
She was a 1939 graduate of Mayfield High School and worked for the Howard D. Happy business in Mayfield and the West Viola National Fireworks plant during World War II.
She held several positions in Graves and Fulton counties over the years and retired as district clerk of the Fulton County Soil Conservation District in 1990.
She is survived by a son, Tom Hodges of Hickman, Ky.; and many beloved nieces and nephews on both sides of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, L.T. Hodges, whom she married on Nov. 24, 1944; a daughter, Mary Lynne Hodges; four brothers, Edward Hatmaker of Pineville, Ky., Ernest Hatmaker of Ekron, Ky., Sam Hatmaker of Traverse City, Mich., and Jack Dicken of Pace, Fla.
