Alvis Daniel Jr., 84, of Union City passed away at 9:15 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2019, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Steve Carr will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jason Craig, Mason Hinton, Bryan Daniel, Alan Tidwell, Allen Primrose and Cyril Harris.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Englewood Lake Club, Dr. Larry Buckles and Neil Rice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope, P.O. Box 482, Union City, TN 38281.
He was born April 25, 1935, in Union City, son of the late Alvis Daniel Sr. and the late Thelma (Tidwell) Daniel. He married his high school sweetheart Janice (Primrose) Daniel on Nov. 22, 1953. She survives.
He was a 1953 graduate of Union City High School where he played football, basketball and baseball and was on the track team. He retired as meat department manager of Kroger in Union City after 48 years of service.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Union City and the Englewood Lake Club. He was an avid Union City High School football fan and also enjoyed fishing, decorating his home with Christmas lights and spending time with his family.
He is also survived by one daughter, Rozanne Rieger (Ken) of Union City; one son, Ross Daniel (Kaye) of Smyrna; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Daniel of Paris; one sister, Dorothy Dotson of Union City; three grandchildren, Bryan Daniel of Smyrna, Jason Craig (Michelle) of Union City and Sara Hinton (Mason) of Obion; three great-grandchildren, Lainey Craig and Madalyn Craig, both of Union City, and Charlotte Hinton of Obion; several stepgrandchildren, several stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Cliff Daniel; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Murry and Lavinia Primrose; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Primrose (Barbara) and David Primrose.
