GOVERNMENT BRIEFING — A special legislative breakfast was held Friday morning at the local Farm Bureau office, where northwest Tennessee’s three state legislators gave a crowd of around 50 an update on state legislation affecting this region. Visiting after the 90-minute breakfast session were (from left) Farm Bureau member Mike Hampton, Ivy Rogers with Congressman David Kustoff’s office and state Reps. Andy Holt and Bill Sanderson. State Sen. John Stevens was also in attendance at the legislative breakfast but had to leave early to attend the Strawberry Festival in Humboldt. All three legislators received a warm reception from their audience, which consisted of Farm Bureau members. as well as Obion County and Union City government leaders. Sanderson, Holt and Stevens were formally praised for their support of five key agricultural bills. Another legislative breakfast focusing on agricultural issues is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. July 17 at the H&R Agri-Power building on Highway 51.
