Donell Jones was born March 31, 1947 to James Amos Jones and Nancy Lou Emma Martin Jones in Weakley County (Greenfield). He departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 in Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, surrounded by his loving family. At a young age, he professed his faith to God and became a member of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church. Donell attended The Weakley County Training School and graduated in 1966. That same year, he became a member of the United States Air Force and Reserves. He served his country for twenty years. He was stationed in Lansing, Michigan. He was a member of the aerospace rescue and recovery squad. In 1981, the mission team he was a part of was honored for the rescue of sixty-one people from Mount St. Helens when it erupted. While in Michigan, he was employed with the Michigan State Police Department, Manager at the Bank of Lansing, and Meijers. He returned home to West Tennessee, where he became employed with MTD for four years. He was then employed with Good Year Tire and Rubber Company for fifteen years, retiring in 2008. Throughout his years of retirement, Donell continued to stay active. He drove vans for North West TN HRA until he had to retire, he was a member of Tennessee Rollers Motorcycle and Social Club, known as “Spyderman”. He was also a proud member of the Sharon Star Lodge No. 219 of Sharon, Tennessee, where he served as Worshipful Master. Also, he was a member of J.O. Hudson No. 175 Royal Arch Masons, James E. Poe No. 11 Royal Select Masons, B.L. Hooks No. 49 Knights Templer Prince Hall Affiliation. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving caring wife, Sherol Sebring-Jones; six children, David (Betty) Jones, Carla Ann Tansil, Erin (Frank) Brown, Dawn (John) Thomas, and Danielle (Jerry) Shepard; two siblings, Joe (Tisha) Jones and Laura Pigue; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two very special nephews, Matthew Jones and Joshua Jones; and a long-time very special friend, Cathy McCausland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, James A. Jones; mother, Nancy Lou Emma Martin Jones; one Son, Nathan Donell Jones; and four siblings, Mildred Jones, James Jones, Elbert Jones, and Odell Jones. Pallbearers were Aaron Moody, Dewayne Jones, Dwight Jones, Derrick Jones, Greg Phelps Sr., Joshua Jones, Matthew Jones, and Jacob Jones. Honorary Pallbearers were Sharon Star Lodge No. 219.
