Carlyne Wheatley

Mrs. Carlyne Wheatley, 80, of Union City died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Union City, with Dr. Doug Norfleet officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery near McKenzie.
Pallbearers will be Adam Wheatley, Greg Wilson, Jeff Barksdale, John Archer, Kevin Wheatley, Lynn Brinkley and Marty Tapper.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the church.
White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Sept. 13, 1938, in Gleason, daughter of the late Carlos and Pauline (Byrd) Brinkley. She married Baxter Wheatley April 25, 1958, and he survives.
She graduated from Gleason High School and Bethel University with a bachelor of science in biology and a minor in math. She was a retired school teacher, having taught at Cottage Grove, Puryear, McKenzie and Union City for over 30 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Union City where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the United Methodist Women and Margaret Carter Sunday School Class. She was a member of The Review Club and very active in Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and David Martin of Sunset Beach, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Dena Wheatley of Mebane, N.C.; a granddaughter, Hailey Wheatley of Mebane; and two sisters, Alice Tapper of Southaven Miss., and Joyce Barksdale of Clifton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Brinkley.
