Ronald Taylor “Ronnie” Yates, 71, of Union City passed away 2:16 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Union City. Dr. Melvin Poe will officiate.
Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 2250 East Reelfoot Ave., Union City, TN 38261.
He was born April 4, 1947, in Obion County, son of the late B.T. and Mary Lou (Carter) Yates. He married Sandra (Williamson) Yates Feb. 11, 1967. She survives.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Union City, where he served as a deacon, was in the church choir, was a member of the Baptist Men’s Group and served on the security team and the audio visual and sound team. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and retired from the former Lennox Hearth Products in Union City after 21 years of service.
He is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Pete Brooks of Union City; one son, Jason Yates of Union City; four grandchildren, Isaac Cochrum, Rachel Cochrum, Rylee Yates and Jonas Yates, all of Union City; two stepgrandchildren, Elizabeth Trigge (Ray) of Gibraltar, Mich., and A.J. Brooks (Ella) of Gleason; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Vicky Trigge and Octavian Trigge, both of Gibraltar, and Kairi Brooks of Gleason.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Yates Edwards; and his daughter-in-law, Betsy Gail Bonds Yates.
