Lillie Carter

Mrs. Lillie Carter, 88, of the Clayton community passed away 3:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Ind.
Joint funeral services for Mrs. Carter and her brother Mr. Charley Williams, who died Nov. 24, 2018, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Charles Southerland and Brother Jack Henry will officiate. Burial will follow in Sanders Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
She was born July 30, 1930, in Obion County, daughter of the late Horace Frank and Lessie Lee (Roberts) Williams. She married Fred A. Carter July 19, 1948. He preceded her in death Oct. 26, 2006.
She was the first lady mail carrier to serve in Plymouth, Mich., and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mitzi Grimes of Sellersburg, Ind.; one son, Kerry Carter (Rosa) of Newbern; three grandchildren, Jacob Carter of the Clayton community, Daniella Ramirez of McKenzie and Ryan Grimes of Clarksville, Ind.; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Williams of Union City and Charley Williams of South Fulton, who passed away on Saturday.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Arietta Fowlkes and Molene Marshall; and one brother, Milton Williams.
