Faye Phelps

Mrs. Faye Phelps, 87, of Union City passed away at 11:29 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Funeral services were to be conducted 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Stephen Sutton was to officiate.
Burial was to follow in Salem Cemetery near Union City.
Pallbearers were to be Dan Fowler, Jeff Jones, Danny Burkett, David Todd and Neill Pate.
She was born Nov. 17, 1931, in RoEllen and was the daughter of Estelle Jane Shelly and Robert Newton Shelly of Hardeman County.
Mrs. Phelps moved to Woodland Mills around 1971. She was a bank teller for several years at Old and Third Bank in Union City, and she later became a Girl Scout troop leader, a volunteer at the Obion County Elections Commission, a member of the Obion County GOP and a part of the Obion County Central Booster’s Club.
She was an avid lover of the Obion County Central Rebels and has held the same half court season tickets to the “world famous Pit” for over 38 years. Mrs. Phelps was also a devoted member of Bishop Street Church of Christ in Union City.
She leaves behind two siblings, Curtis Shelly (Doris) and Nell Legions. She is further survived by her children, Melissa Phelps Pate and Andy Phelps (Rene), as well as her granddaughter, Shelly Pate.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Tyree Shelly, Newton Shelly and Jerl (Jeri) Thomas. She was also proceeded in death by her husband of 39 years, Fred Phelps.
