Lionel Wheeler

Lionel Wheeler, 86, of Linn Valley, Kan., passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at White-Ranson Funeral Home. A private family service will be held in Gardner Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until hour of services Nov. 17 at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials be made to Olathe Health Hospice Care, 20375 West 151st St., Suite 363, Olathe, KS 66061 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis.
He was born in Hickman, Ky., on July 8, 1932, the son of Lionel and Clara Luton Wheeler. He married Patricia Newton on Dec. 25, 1955.
He attended Union City High School and Memphis State University. He worked for the Ford Motor Company in Union City and Martin for 40 years and spent a few years at Walmart before retiring.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Loyal Order of Moose, VFW and the American Legion. He was an Eagle Scout and also served in the U.S. Naval Reserves for eight years.
He was the unofficial mayor of Terrell until moving to Kansas in 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; his daughters, Bridget Ward (Rick) and Carmen Glezer (Jeff); his grandchildren, Bray, James and Drew McKelvy, Ryan Ward, Leah Bond, Claire, Eliza and Emma Glezer; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Parke Wheeler and Jimmy Wheeler; and a sister, Shirley Davis Guss.
