Doris Crittendon

Doris Jean Hooten Crittendon, age 72, of Dresden, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at Milan General Hospital. Service was held at 1 p.m. Monday at Cypress Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Harvel Baker officiating. Interment followed at Mack’s Grove Cemetery near Dresden with Bowlin Funeral Home of Dresden in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Johnny Gurley, Richard Caksackkar, Terry Stephens, Ronal Rogers and Ronnie Armatys. She was born on April 9, 1946 in Tiptonville, daughter of the late Clayton and Gertrude L. Douthit Hooten. She was a homemaker, seamstress and factory worker, recently retired from MTD Products, an avid Atlanta Braves fan, especially fond of Chipper Jones, and a 35-year member of Cypress Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Crittendon of Dresden; one son, Darryl (Andi) Poiner Jr. of Martin; two daughters, Carol J. Oliver of South Fulton and Ann Bowell of Dresden; two sisters, Rosie (Jim) Jackson of Nework, Ark. and Faye Moore of Ridgley; four grandchildren, Jessica Mullins, Samantha Poiner, Amber VanMeter and Bailey Poiner; one great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Miller; and furry companion, Bandit. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Hicks and Catherine McDonald.
